President Bush To Senate Democrats -- Let's Get It On
Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at 05:56PM I'm heartened to see that the President is girding up for a fight with Senate Democrats over the constitutional prerogative of the Executive to prevent the Legislature from hauling Executive Branch staff before a group of salivating, press-hungry and bloviating Senators as part of an investigation - and a particularly bogus one at that. It's a separation of powers issue that serves both Republican and Democratic presidents alike. Meanwhile, the American people get another glimpse of what a Democratically-controlled Congress looks like - rabid, bitter, partisan and desirous of endless games of gotcha politics. Even when sharing power, the Democrats are defined less by what they are for and more by what they are against. Their Bush-hatred, manufactured scandals and continual efforts to subvert the war effort and undermine the troops in the field will not go unnoticed by the American people. To make matters worse, the Democrats won't have any coherent outlet for their Bush hatred in 2008. They'll be left with nothing but their snarl and hordes of cliche-spouting acolytes.
Update: Dean Barnett sees it the way I do.
