Saddam's Supporters Reveal The Darkside Of Humanity

Take a look at this picture of Saddam loyalists mourning his death.  This has to be one of the most disturbing and morally twisted scenes I have ever seen.  This bloodthirsty dictator was responsible for the deaths of over 300,000 of his own people, including countless women and children.  How did he kill these innocents?  By using some of the most wretched and gruesome weapons and torture imaginable.  Chemical weapons, death squads, giant shredders...you name it and he probably did it.  He didn't even spare his own family members.  He launched two wars of aggression against his neighbors that were motivated by strategic geographical reasons as well as economic ones.

In trying to gain control of Iran's oil wealth, he began an eight year war where an estimated 1.5 million souls perished.  In 1991, Saddam invaded Kuwait to gain control of the tiny nation's abundant oil wealth and secure direct access to the Persian Gulf.  Rather than heed the admonishments of the world after being thwarted in this latter endeavor, he chose a defiance that resulted in a substantial sanctions regime that contributed toward the starving of segments of his own population -- once again including women and children.  What did he do when presented with the opportunity to feed his people through the U.N Oil For Food Program during the sanctions regime?  He manipulated the program for his own purposes and indulgences at the expense of his people.  Why feed starving children when the money could be used to line the pockets of he and his diabolical sons, invest in weapons and build even more lavish palaces?

Saddam Hussein was a monster as befitting the worst of historical tyrants and bogeymen.  Hitler, Stalin, Lenin and Pol Pot just to name a few.  The sight of anybody gathering around his rotting corpse and expressing even a modicum of sorrow and grief just sickens me to the core of my being.  In a world that increasingly considers the existence of true evil as having fallen out of fashion or as hearkening back to a more primitive, bygone time of myths, fables and colossal "misunderstandings," one need only gaze upon the picture of people weeping over the death of Saddam Hussein to witness the enduring infestation of evil in this world.  It's a truly despicable scene.
