    Busted!

Well, this news doesn't surprise me at all.  It has long been suspected that the Iranian regime was aiding and abetting the spread of terror in Iraq.  Still, despite this "smoking gun" evidence, I don't expect the United Nations to be of any help.  At the very least, the discovery of iron-clad proof that Iran is feeding violence and terrorism in Iraq just after Iranian President Ahmadinejad addressed a letter to the American people in an effort to "get his message out " and convey solidarity confirms him to be the evil, duplicitous man we thought him to be.  Consider the part of his letter where he appears to make an appeal on behalf of the Iraqi people:

Since the United States' presence in Iraq began, "hundreds of thousands of Iraqis have been killed, maimed or displaced. Terrorism in Iraq has grown exponentially. ... Although Saddam was overthrown and people are happy about his departure, the pain and suffering of the Iraqi people has persisted and has even been aggravated.

Now we have irrefutable proof that the killing, maiming, displacement and growing acts of terrorism about which Ahmadinejad sounds so concerned is being brought about in large part by the Iranian government through Iranian weapons.  It is farcical that the Iraq Study Group is reportedly set to recommend that we work with Iran to stabilize Iraq.  If they follow through with such a recommendation, this bipartisan group of individuals should be embarrassed.

John Hinderaker thinks it possible that the story was a planned leak to preempt next week's expected release of the Iraq Study Group's report.
